Alabama
Hawaii
Oklahoma
District of Columbia
Illinois
Maine
Montana
Nebraska
Kansas

-Alabama requires US citizenship to take the exam.

-Illinois will remain a two-tier state till July 1, 2010 (you must have passed the CPA exam and apply before this date)

-Maine requires public accounting experience for the certificate

-Hawaii requires experience for certificate and you must be a US citizen for license

-Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma require residency

@ Kitro If Maine is a two tier state then that means they require public accounting experience for license not for certificate. pls. correct me if i am wrong..

i hear Institutue of Certified Public Accountants of Pakistan (ICPAP) is offering CPA in pakistan. what is the creditability of that institute or certification.

its not recognized as an authorised accounting body like icmap or icap. secondly i dont think its even member of ifac.

hi, can anyone tell me what pakistani degree is recognized by the CPA board for minimal entry requirements?
i have completed my A levels and wish to register for any short course that will make eligible to sit for CPA. i understand the lowest requirement is from the state of delaware. thanks.

Yes, usually HEC recognized degree is acceptable for CPA. I don't think with A levels and short course would satisfy 150 Credit hour requirement. Usually, it is equivalent to Master degree in accounting or equivalent.

thank you! this is very helpful. when you say HEC, you mean http//www.hec.gov.pk/Pages/main.aspx im assuming. im going to look for a list of accedited universities by HEC, but if you have any such listing etc, please do forward it to me. thanks once again.

if u apply to delaware then bcom+US tax exam should be sufficient.

Delaware also requires 4 years of experience under the supervision of an active CPA. Its not easy to work under a licensed CPA in Pakistan or even in the UAE.
There are very few licensed CPAs in Pakistan.
