That's why I say It's up to the addressee whether he gets upset by the message.

I have a sneaking sympathy for Abdul and his "brants". I guess we can stand to be badmouthed a bit, my view. And it's true that Abdul is a fairly mild-mannered chap if you set aside the aggressive content of his dog-with-bone use of "words". Hell, he's just trying to get our goat. Why let him?

Abdul has repeatedly and here, openly admitted to being willing and ready to use racially based slurs against those he dislikes. This is what, if it were a man talking about Islam he disliked and calling them n******'s just because they contradicted hisd opinion... a racist, bigot. And if he were a moderator people would be calling for his position.

Well this is a call for that. I've got no truck with his opposition to the project, that's HIS RIGHT. But the fact he continually, and openly makes racists slurs agaisnst them.

As a member of this community, I find that reprehensible behavior for someone whose supposed to be a member and keep debates civil. How can we trust his judgement in the future?

What if a latino poster and a caucasian poster get into in a future thread, and I side agaisnst Abdul, isn't his open and admitted mis-interpretation about Islam is a racial slur enough to make any call of his suspect?

Paranoid megalomaniac. Perfect diagnosis! And yes, Nelson Mandilla is a gentleman. I'm going to look at your links, PH, as I'm sure they will give me a laugh. More bellowing, I presume.

The last person who should have even the faintest control over another. In that experiment they did, making ordinary people 'guards' and 'prisoners' to test the liklihood of the guards becoming abusive if allowed, Ophie would have been the lead example.

I am glad that my comments have actually created some debate. Can I just point out that I am opposed to those who seek to shout down people why say difficult things and I am emphatically NOT in favour of shutting anything down. Freedom of speech is something that should be protected.

What ever the reason, cause, or logic, me not posting u reply will be a shame because it will contribute to some hard feelings being left unresolved which will grow, fester, and one day burst. It also gives a very bleak outlook for the future conversations on here. If misunderstandings are left unresolved and everyone has a chip on their shoulder against some then they will take a dig every chance they get on future postings. There is already way to much of that now. Communication is the key to any relationship Virtual or other wise. If we can't talk out our differences and understand each other better, where is that going to lead us?
There are several people on here that I already feel some what close to, but I know there will be something sometime come up with them that I won't understand and might disagree with, or visa versa. I hate to think those relationships could be destroyed just because we don’t understand that one thing and are unable to discuss it.

Lion King
You need to understand the dynamic in this thread to know what is going on. I posted some stuff that Abdul wrote in another thread. Just a sort of record keeper of what a piece of work he is. Quotes mostly. And believe me I am not a ball buster, just a guy with a sense of fair play. I can take a joke or two. But I consistently read PSYCHOPATH!!! from what Abdul was posting. Thats why I opened up a discussion on him.

Then along comes Ophie with some similar stuff, though not as bad, so I opened this thread. So like, this is general chitchat and one thing led to another. You know how a thread can run sometimes....

Then Sohana let me have it with both barrels of his incoherent cap-gun. OUCH!! Then Sohana (my co-conspirator from way back) posted her mean, mean opinion of me, heh. Sohana, I fart in your general direction...

So Lion don't be anxious for me. I am concerned with issues of justice, morality, ethics. I wish the gov weren't so oppressive, secret, confiscatory. But I love all the debaters here, of every stripe, because they give me objects to argue at. Do I hope to persuade with my debate? Only those who are undecided, since the true believer will rarely change no matter how good the opponent's argument is.

That's fine, but in debate topics, shouldn't you moderate those who do not engage in real debate? Ophie is all one-liners, and you all let it slide for some reason, encouraging others that they too can break the etiquette, and there's a good part of the problem right there, don't you think?

Can I just point out that I am opposed to those who seek to shout down people why say difficult things and I am emphatically NOT in favour of shutting anything down. Freedom of speech is something that should be protected.

The point is that the relative freedom which we enjoy depends of public opinion. Ruleis no protection. Admin made rules, but whether they are carried out, and how the members behave, depends on the general temper in the community. If large numbers of people are interested in freedom of speech, there will be freedom of speech, even if the rules forbids it; if public opinion is sluggish, inconvenient minorities will be persecuted, even if rules exist to protect them. The notion that certain opinions cannot safely be allowed a hearing is growing. It is given currency by intellectuals who confuse the issue by not distinguishing between democratic opposition and open rebellion, and it is reflected in our growing indifference to tyranny and injustice abroad. And even those who declare themselves to be in favour of freedom of opinion generally drop their claim when it is their own adversaries who are being prosecutued.

Even this problem accociated with freedom of speech can be solved but there are no moderators here in this forum to enforce the rules and take some responsibility off from the shoulders of Admin. I am not asking you to make me the moderator but we can have a poll to choose from. There can be representatives from each group, we can form usergroups and i think it will really contribute towards the improvement of this forum.
Your opinions.
