Does the induction of any modern technology like Pentium 4 computers from manual type writers, any reforms in procedures, any world bank loan for introducing of new reforms in tax or justice system, introduction of new offices, new ombudsmen, etc really bring any better change as far as end user the common man is concerned. Answer we all know is negative. How can these things bring any better change till the man on chair still remains the same due to whose sitting the need of these reforms in the first place arose. A month or so back on TV there was a news that government was to bring computers in all offices. What is the use? With much fanfare internet cafes were introduced in major GPOs most of which are closed since long. Where have gone all computers installed therein?

With similar fanfare and with large propa****a the web On Line services were introduced by Pakistan Post Office. On Karachi Postal Division web site On Line http// kspd.gov.pk/savings_accounts.html on 04 March 2003 I submitted my application for opening of a savings account. It was the time when HE the President was advising the Pakistanis working abroad to invest in Pakistan. The auto response web system http// pspd.gov.pk/ebanking/application_received.html thanked me assuring that soon my request will be processed. Soon it will be four years. Despite my repeated written reminders even to the Director General Posts at Islamabad have not produced any result. Wonderful web development.

Things dont change that fast here as we want them to but change surly there is a change.
NADRA is a good example.
Now there is a machine near my house (although most of the time its out of order) but still many times it saved me from standing in long lanes in front of banks to pay off my bills.

Some years back there were now nadra machines
Now they are but they are not operated well
Lets hope someday they will never be out of order
