Portfolio The best analogy is like a basket. In finance, an example would be a basket with some shares, bonds, derivative contracts etc.

Portfolio Management It mbasically means how you play around with your portfolio (defined above).

I think that u ve asked the question in respect of NBFC...
In that respect, every NBFC has some investment portfolio. as explained by derivativetrader, u have different sets of portfolio for investment in different kinds of securities. and as per the NBFC rules, a specific percentage is given for NBFCs to invest in different portfolios. i.e. 20% in leasing, 20% in housing finance etc.
And fluctuating ur portfolio subject to those rules to get maximum benefit is portfolio management.
plz clarify if u r asking about NBFC. I can explain more in that regard.
if it was a general question, i think ur purpose is solved....

Thankyou Derivative and also Abdur Rehman bhai. My question was just general as i was going thru an article and had some ambiguity in PORTFLIO. Which is now Solved. And thanx for the Extra knowledge of NBFC.
