ICAEW and ICAP Announce Training Programme in Pakistan
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) has announced an historic memorandum of understanding with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). The agreement provides global opportunities and strengthens ties between both institutes.
The memorandum enables ICAP members to undertake advanced level tuition through a top-up programme which allows them to become members of the ICAEW. In addition, it enables a sharing of experience and the exchange of best practice across a range of disciplines on behalf of the respective memberships. ICAP currently has 3,800 members across commerce and industry.
ICAP recognises that it is necessary to provide advanced accounting skills to its members to meet the international demand for accountants both in Pakistan and internationally. ICAP and ICAEW have a strong working relationship and it was because of this history, ICAP and ICAEW decided to enter into the memorandum of understanding. The ICAEW is committed to working with accounting institutes to share experience and develop best practice.
Visiting Pakistan, Richard Dyson, President of the ICAEW, said
âThe ICAEW is now focussed on making the transition from being a well respected domestic body to being a global Institute with headquarters in the UK, capable of competing with the very best, whether this is in the field of executive education, thought leadership, product innovation or industry influence.
âWe want to be recognised as a major presence in both emerging and developed markets â not only as a provider of financial qualifications that are second to none, but as an organisation with a reputation for championing best practice in partnership with both governments and individual institutions such as ICAP.â
Nasim Hyder, President of the ICAP, said
âI am delighted to be able to sign this important memorandum of understanding between our two Institutes. As finance professionals, the role of ICAP and ICAEW members during a period of growth is to provide the advice and support needed to ensure that it is sustainable over the long term.â
Richard Dyson concluded
âThe ICAEW is excited to be working in partnership with the ICAP to share and champion best practice and ensure that Pakistan has the skilled finance professionals it will need to support its economic growth. â
The memorandum of understanding was signed in Pakistan on Thursday 30th August.
