I heard that in order to promote licensed software in Pakistan, some agency is selling microsoft lecensed software for a fraction of the list price. Can someone point to that. I could not locate any such company on the internet. How much would a Win2000 + visual studio cost.

Assalam-u-aleikum
In Lahore POP at 2nd floor of Hafiz Center,Shop no. 17 or 15 is selling Licensed softwares.
Winsow XP cost. 4700/- Rs. Office XP cost 19900/- Rs.
I have not asked about Visual studio. Microsoft is no more selling windows versions earlier than XP.
At corporate level Jafar brohers near Aligarh School (libverty) are providing Computer services.
I also wonder why they not have any web information.

well my friend.. those ppl who can afford it must buy licensed software. period.
i bet u if can get enuf after sales support after buying Rs 25 XP.
buying pirated software is not only illegal it is also very annoying.
i use win2k licensed and can update all sorts from windows updates. i receive quick email replies from microsoft if i have any problems...
...
i agree windows need to come into our country properly and provide discounted versions of windows which should be country-locked.

Using a pirated software @ home can be safe, but using in office is too much risky, you must buy a licenced software, as microsoft team use to visit the office and they check the licence overthere,
JOKE Its a joke in my opinion, as In pakistan the user of drugs is punished instead of seller of drugs, likewise the Rs.25/- CD is being sold everywhere, and nobody is going to ask them, but if u use the pirated softwares then u will be ..................

Agreed<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>.... however i still believe that it helps to buy licensed software and music... in future perhaps 20/30 years these may be our copyrights as opposed to theirs at the moment
