First of all very much thanks to "Pracs" for giving me an appreciative response and clearing a lot of doubts which were present in my mind; but not now !

Does an ICMA passed student is given preference for articles training or CA Inter students generally in Chartered Accountancy Firms? And what would be the best to do; ICMA or CA Inter before going for articles training.

The more important question which I would like to ask from you that whether the institutions from where a student passes CA Inter arrange the articles training for all of their successfully passing students or this is on the student's own try to get such kind of training on the basis of his or her own knowledge and intelligence after passing CA Inter?

I'm asking all above questions with reference to Pakistan.

ACMA will definately take you more time, if you plan to go for a CA,,, why imbibe yourself into ACMA... since it is just as hard to pass. I would recommend CA Foundation (as it is now called). Some firms would prefer an ACMA or an ACCA affiliate.. since they will have to let off less of leave time for exams, but those are just a few.. all of the Big 4 prefer a student with a good track record (academic) preferably first passes in the CA foundation (first attempts ie) your understanding and concepts are very important when it comes to passing those entrance tests and the gruelling interviews.

It makes no difference which institute (RAET- registered accounting ....) you go to, since the Foundation certificate issued by ICAP will not say where you went to.. its not like getting a B.com from Hailey college is important.. although Punjab University issues the degree for all the colleges... get what I mean.

I would however say that choosing an RAET is important ,, it does make a difference where the cream of the intake goes to, since CA is all about competing and getting into the right study group. Personal committment, hard work and intelligent preperation go a long way (for that matter any professional exam).

I think You said you were in Lahore,.. when I went for my Foundation (8-9 years ago !) PAC and SKANS were the most popular choices,.. I hear a lot of RAETs have come up.. u can check up there pass results. Though PAC is still the RAET in Lahore to have produced the most no. of Chartered Accountants. I went to PAC for my Foundation and SKANS for the little tution that I took for the Professional. Ofcourse the PAC I talk about is of the Ashfaque sb. fame.. Hey what am I blabbering about.. you don't even know who I am talking about,.. anyways hope that has helped you.
