The i-tech minister talking with the then US Ambassador in Pakistan said that the introduction of computerization and internet in government offices here will increase the efficiency and change the working attitude of the functionaries.

Few years back I depended on postal rates appearing on the Pakistan Post Office web site when all recipients of my posted mail had to pay deficient postage affixed with penalty. I raised the issue with the Federal Ombudsman attaching therewith copies of envelope showing that penalty was charged from addressees whom I sent mail depending on those postal rates. The protector of citizens rights did not feel it any wrong or act of mail administration that the web site was showing two years old rates not merely misguiding the citizens but also punishing them with penalty only because postal higher executives and web department’s webmaster despite drawing huge salaries had no time to update the site. Thus the ombudsman turned down my complaint without providing me natural justice namely refund of money charged as deficient postage and penalty.

The official web site of National Savings at http//savings.gov.pk/PBA.HTM today 25th July 2008 says that no withholding tax is levied on Pensioners Account and Behbood Certificates for Widows etc. Thus believing on the website information if today I invest and later withholding tax is charged from me can I dream of any remotest “true natural justice”, as our affairs are being run today, from any ombudsman or from any superior courts on the ground that this investor depended on the misleading information provided by the official website of the Department. Having spent the life and today standing in the line of senior citizens I would be a fool if I even dream of that any ombudsman or any superior court would even listen to me let alone deliver justice.
