ca its really good in terms of money. Facilities flow with money. Respect is an odd word. I think any profession which consists of educated people having paisa in it is respectful.
Foreign Office is the best place if you are obsessed with foreign tours.

I am not sure, but I think private companies dont send their executives to foreign tours (unless its verry necessary) but if you join some good government department, you can have a lot of foreign tours,
especially these days, researchers, scientists have ample opportunities for foreign tours & infact they are making a lot of it. for research purposes, conferences etc etc. thats coz of HEC policies & this trend will go on.

Pakistani diplomats don't get a good salary with their local standards. The same applies for post-graduate grants that our nationals get.

CA may be among respectable and well paying professions in Pakistan, but, you may never say its just the best. As this forum belongs to would-be Chartered Accountants, like me, so this opinion is quite common here.

Well, the armed forces still seems to be quite a brilliant career isn't it, we now have ex armed personel in as journalists, researchers, administrators, realtors, etc.

In another life time I'd want to be a fighter pilot, you know the F16 kind,.. nothing like a g-force induced rush as part of your daily work..!!

Pracs, you perhaps forgot to include the diplomatic positions that are now held by ex armed personnel. Until lately, the former chielf of naval staff was the embassador to the UAE, and now for past few years we had Gen (retd.) Karamat and now Maj Gen (retd.) Durrani as embassador to the US.

Let's see how this present situation changes after 2007 - or may be after the possible threat of US attack on Iran, as there has been rumours that elections might get delayed if there is some sort of attack on the Iran..

You are right DT,.. I forgot the most lucrative wing of the services. Well, in the case of UAE,.. I think its definately am improvement.. the ex Ambassador ' a political appointee' was a bit of a struggle for the Pakistani community. Having said that, I am not condoning what is happening around these days though.

Yes the 2007 elections, will be an interesting turn around.
