Hi,

At the moment I have an essay to do on accounting for part of my business degree but I was wondering if yous could give me some quick pointers about what areas I should cover in this essay.

The essay question is

<b>"Accountants are communicators. Accountancy is the art of communicating information about a business entity to users...

Discuss."</b>

Please can you offer me some pointers about how to word this essay.

Any help would be greately apprecriated.

1. Mention role of accountants in writing up financial statements.

2. Link point 1 with role of accountants are auditors. (auditors do not write up financial statements though)

3. Mention corporate governance in short and explain in a paragraph Cadbury and Greenbury codes, also the Sarbanes Oxley act and reason for their existence and how they help auditors.

By the way, accountancy is an 'art of recording'. Though not just restricted to that.

Hi,
I think book-keeping is the phrase that would be most appropriate for "art of recording"...Accounting does make a vast sense, it includes book-keeping, and also includes a component of communication of recorded accounting information to others in the form of Financial Statements and other reports...
So accountants are the communicators of information related to a business because they provide information in the form of Statements and Reports to the infromation users(investors, creditors, banks,Govt.,public etc).
