Hey Alibaba, your question is like that "I am hungry, what should i do, should i buy a Burger?or I should get a rented car ?? <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Kidding, dont mind,
you are an ACMA, and if u can afford the articleship(I mean if u dont have any financial problems) then you must go for CA. You just need to appear in Final Level of ICAP, as in my opinion ICAP's final level is no more a game for ACMAs.
and now if u want to join the industry, and you are confident that you will get the canadian visa without any problem, then definately go for Canada, you can do CA from there as well.

hey both the ali'z
i think u guyz shud chill yaar .. c'mon i mean relax..
acha as for your question ali, i think u shud go for CA as well
but on the other hand with ACMA it would be better to go for ACCA if u plan on shifting to Canada. Its recognised even over there so you should find it relatively easier to find a placement there. The Canadian institute also gives more exemtions to ACCA then it does to ICAP qualified, even though they were the ones who initially set ICAP up!.
whatever u do, BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!

dear ........

i may look weird recomending like, being a pro of ca and acca this, but its my sincere advice that ask ur self... if u have completed ur acma in good condition i mean attempts and u have completed mba from good univ.. i would recomend not to go for ca... u will ask y

see... u are a management accountant with a knowledge of marketing and business management aspect (mba) and ca is purely an orthodox field... a master of all and jack of none kinna thing (if from good firm or training coz i would consider u going for big firm having qualified acma and mba) and if u get into this field u will have to adopt one thing out of two i.e mgt acct or pure fin. Acct,...

for eg.. if u are a ca student u will surely be applying the tough international acct. standards on the clients who are multinational public or pvt co. which i consider u would have never done in ur acma.. and i am of the belief that practice makes the man perfect.... so practically u know nothing abt practical implementation of accounting standards and the review of accounting and internal control system and the experiance of taxation matters..... but what u know more than a ca may be is the aspect of financial management or management accouitng like costing system.... so

a. if u are going for ca firm and articles and ACA... u will be seeing a wider world of practice due to ur qualification but after 3 years of training and having being qualified as ca u wull be underemployed ( a state when u have more qualification than u are paid for)...and who knows after being a CA after 3 years they still ask for the post qualification experiance from u... which would be reqiured (may be) by good organsations..

b. secondly what u can do is to work on contractual basis with some good organisation or rather firm to get a know how of taxation (income and sales)and get some experiance of some industural client(like some cement..textile..fibres...etc sector which is best option for u....

and finally after like 2 years or may be one year worked in tax and audit kinna environment u can apply for the following deptts.

Treasury deptt, of multinational bank
Manager costing
Manager new operations/projects
Manager fin mgt,
Treasury deptt of some export oriented company…

Or open ur own firm after affiliating with some uk based small firm which is interested in Pakistan relations (which u will have to do with a lot of net browinsg and emails etc…)

Accha let me quote u an eg.. from the big giant,,,,, Mr abc joined company xyz 8 years back as a trainee after qualifying acma, just for ca sake.. the person was deployed on various jobs of audit etc and tax but due to the tough timings of the ca and due to his ACMA attitude towards studies (where mostly u just have to study so u make plans on a 3-5 hours basis while working in CA firms u just have to study almost every free time u have even if u have 10 minutes,,,, if someone wanna qualify in 1st attempt) so he could only complete his training period and after 8 years was still an acma… having done few jobs for an institution he got employed at a very senior post (but out of his own city .AND so he joined an oil company in middle east in six figure and afterwards leaving that coming back to Pakistan (saying that own country is own country etc) and do u know what he was offered….in lahore,,,,, Rs 60 k and in what capacity,,,, ha ha Manager Treasury,,,,,, so after the big travel of his life he ultimately was at his exact seat and post….. pretty interesting isn’t it…. I would not tell u the name of person and the firm and u know y,,,,

I don’t know where are u located …and
I RECOMMEND FOR ALL THE MEMBERS OF THIS SITE TO DISCLOSE THERE LOCATION AND AGE IN POSTINGS FOR A BETTER ADVICE…..

I guess my this long speech will help u in making decisions .. I am not suggesting for not opting CA as in a negative sense but considering the fact that u r an ACMA subject to what I stated in first para (good attempts and MBA from good univ.. ) I guess it’s the best..
I am not editing what I have written coz its so long so forgive me if I hurt any one……….
