Probably due to the lack of demand and awareness regarding the CIMA qualification.

In my opinion the reason for not hiring CIMA and ACCA (as i include) student, is the legal status of trainee student.
As if we compare them with CA students, they are registered with ICAP under Bye Laws, and they cannot leave the firm on their own, for this they are required to obtain NOC from the firm.
So when audit firms hire CIMA or ACCA student and the time comes when the firms are in a position to get benefit from the work which they learnt during the period, the CIMA and ACCA students run away after 6 months or 1 year (to another firm where they feel the better opportunities).
so there should be a registeration process for ACCA or CIMA students like CA students (or for any other professional degree which require practical training), and for leaving the firms they must obtain NOC from the firm.
So in my opinion this the main reason for non-hiring of said students.

I think that nowadays the top firms have started to take these ACCA/CIMA students as they have found out that these poor ppl are even cheaper to these firms than the usual cheap labour they hire,ie a CA trainee! <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Most firms get these ACCA/CIMA guys for around 1,100 bucks and since there are no bye-laws governing them, therefore they find no need to increase their stipends. I've seen a few ACCA trainees work for 1100/- thoroughout their 3 year period.

Another advantage the firms get out of these trainees is that they can refuse to give them any exam leaves, since they are not guaranteed a minimum amount like the CA trainee is through his contract.
