Finally I was able to identify the causes and solve the problem with activeX without reinstalling XP. It was a good exercise.<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

For information of all those concerned who do not want to update to XPSP2 and still want to improve overall security of their system, following is a list of updates you should install
Caution 1. SP1 needs to be installed before these updates. 2. It is a good idea to follow the KB sequence when installing the updates. 3.You are responsible for your own actions!!!<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Windows XP (KB826939)
Download size 282 KB, less than 1 minute
This update consists of previously released critical and security updates, for Windows XP, rolled into one convenient package. Installing this item provides you the same results as installing the individual updates.
