ISLAMABAD (September 16 2006): The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has decided to appoint legal counsels, including individuals and companies, who have specialised in the government service rules to assist the ongoing restructuring and reorganisation of its field formations.

Official sources told Business Recorder on Friday the reorganisation of income tax, sales tax and customs departments is under process. This requires appointment of expert lawyers to effectively deal with the services-related issues.

Terms of Reference (ToR) of the legal counsel included assessment and development centre, integrity management, restructuring/workforce rationalisation management, retirement management and eliminating all litigation issues arising out of the above mentioned processes.

The applicant must be a practising lawyer of the Supreme Court/high courts, having a minimum experience of 12 years dealing in the services matter/human resource management issues, officials added.
