Amendment to bye-law 97 of Chartered Accountants Bye-Laws 1983

The Federal Government has approved the undermentioned amendments to bye-law 97 of Chartered Accountants Bye-Laws 1983. The date of effect of these amendments shall be 18 January 2003.

Quote – “In the aforesaid Bye-Laws, in bye-law 97, for clauses (v), (vi) and (vii), the following shall be substituted namely: –

is a graduate in second Division or equivalent and has passed Pre-entry Proficiency Test; or

is a graduate in first Division or equivalent and has obtained exemption from Pre-entry Proficiency Test; or

holds a Master's degree in second Division or equivalent and has obtained exemption from Pre-entry Proficiency Test.”

By virtue of para (v) of the amendment, graduates in second division who have passed the Pre-entry Proficiency Test can now enter into training arrangements with Principals at CA Firms who are authorized to train students.
