PwC leader in India takes over IGSI

BANGALORE: Change of guard for another MNC in India; last week Intel Corporation announced a new chief for India. This time it is DataQuest top MNC software exporter in the country for 2001-02, IBM Global Services India (IGSI).

The global IT giant has announced the appointment of Amitabh Ray as Director of IBM Global Services India (IGSI). He replaces Uday Shukla, who is informed to move on as the Director of Asia Pacific Global Delivery in IBM Global Services.

This senior level appointment comes in the wake of the integration of the company’s recent acquisition of PricewaterCoopers (PwC) Consulting where Ray was serving as the leader of the technology and offshore practice in the Indian operations. PwC has now been merged with IBM Corporation globally to form IBM Business Consulting Services (IBM BCS), the new consulting arm of IBM Corporation.

As a foreword to his appointment, Ray commented, “IGSI Exports has earned many laurels from the Indian IT industry watchers in Year 2002. This year we are geared to again lead in the market by continuing to play a key role in IBM’s global delivery model that provides quality solutions to our customers across the world at affordable cost and minimal risk.” He is also a member of the Technology Sub-Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
