ICAEW, ICAP Sign Memorandum of Understanding

KARACHI: The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) have signed an MoU for enhanced cooperation and assistance.

The objectives of the understanding are to strengthen international accounting ties, enhance cooperation, exchange information and experience and provide assistance to each other in the accountancy profession, which would contribute immensely to their academic and professional development.

“Corporate ethics are of global importance to everyone and it is with this aim we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the ICAP,” President Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales Richard Dyson said.

He added “in today’s competitive world, one country cannot be jack of all trades and therefore partnerships are important to share skills in a range of disciplines and ICAEW would like to support education in Pakistan with this MoU.”

He said businessmen needed confidence to work successfully and Pakistan required professionals of corporate standards. “It’s a long mile from the UK to Pakistan regarding change of perceptions and challenging knowledge. If you don’t have it, then you cannot grow economically,” he pointed out.
