CASA – Election Schedule for the two seats falling vacant at the next AGM

Election to fill the two (2) students’ vacancies on the Chartered Accountants Students’ Association (CASA)-South Managing Committee, 2003 shall be held on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at 10:30 a.m., following the Annual General Meeting(AGM) at the premises of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, Clifton, Karachi. The voting shall commence at 10:30 a.m. and stop at 1:00 p.m. Students desirous of contesting the election should submit the completed nomination forms to Mr. Qadeeruddin at the office of the Southern Regional Committee (SRC), Karachi.

AGM and Election
Saturday, December 21, 2002

–  Mr. Usman Ghani Akbani and Syed Shahid Husain Jafri, Esq., members of the Southern Regional Committee (SRC) shall function as members of the ‘election committee’.
–  The rules and regulations governing the election have been notified separately.
–  Nomination forms can be obtained from the office of the SRC during working hours.
–  Any further instructions / information relating to the election and the Annual General Meeting shall be displayed on the notice board of the SRC at Karachi.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

To be eligible to stand for election as a student member of the Managing Committee the student should have completed at least six months training prior to the date of the election i.e. December 21, 2002, under a contract registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and the remainder of the students’ training contract should be atleast one (1) year on that date. However, students whose training contracts commenced on or before July 1,2002 would also be eligible.

Nominations should be filed at the office of the Southern Regional Committee latest by October 31, 2002 (see the election notice issued separately).

To be eligible to vote in the election for the Managing Committee, 2003 the student should have completed atleast six months training prior to the date of election i.e. December 21, 2002, under a contract registered with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). However, students whose training contracts commenced on or before July 1, 2002 would also be eligible to vote. Further, a student who has completed the prescribed period of training shall also be eligible to vote at the election provided he has made an application on the prescribed form for membership latest by November 30, 2002 and paid a fee of Rs. 5.

Registered students must produce their original and valid ICAP registration card to be eligible to cast their vote.

No proxy votes are allowed.

Each voter shall have two (2) votes.
Only one vote can be cast in favour of a candidate
Both votes must be cast
However, if both the votes are not cast or more than one vote is cast in favour of a candidate it shall render the ballot paper invalid.

The results shall be announced by the Chairman CASA-South or his representative, in the presence of the contestants or their nominated representatives.

The decision of the Chairman CASA-South or his nominated representative(s) shall be final on any matter relating to the conduct of election or in the event of any dispute.
