ISLAMABAD (April 29, 2013) – ACCA Islamabad today held a launch ceremony for ACCA Foundation Diploma, the first in the series of launch events for the new diploma.
The Foundation Diploma provides essential knowledge and skills for those students without relevant training, and serves as a clear entry route onto ACCA’s main accountancy qualification called the ACCA qualification.
The new ACCA Foundation Diploma has seven exams, plus the Foundations in Professionalism online module, as follows:
- FA1 – Recording Financial Transactions
- MA1 – Management Information
- FA2 – Maintaining Financial Records
- MA2 – Managing Costs and Finance
- FAB – Accountant in Business
- FMA – Management Accounting
- FFA – Financial Accounting
- Foundations in Professionalism – online ethics module
“We want all our aspiring finance professionals here in Pakistan to have every opportunity for success, so we have been working closely with learning partners here to develop this Foundation Diploma,” said Noor Aftab, head of ACCA Islamabad in her opening comments.
Students will be expected to take all seven exams to gain the Foundation Diploma and will then be eligible for the ACCA Qualification. With computer based exams available all year, and paper exams twice a year, the Foundation Diploma student could complete the entire Diploma in less than 12 months.
The event also included a lively panel discussion on the theme ‘Starting from the Foundation’ for which M Uzair, Director Internal Audit, Tourism Promotion Services, Manzar Khurshid Sheikh, President, Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Izzat Jahan, Chief Instructor, National Institute of Management, Dr Afra Sajjad, head of Education MENASA, ACCA and Noor Aftab, head of ACCA Islamabad were the panellists.
The event also included keynote addresses from Salman Amin, GM Commercial, OGDCL and Imtiaz Razvi, Director Operations Examinations Pakistan, British Council.
