Rumi was a Sufi poet. The use of water and thirst might have been metaphoric. By seeking water He might have meant seeking Allah and by being thirsty he might have meant having a sincere desire to seek Him. A quest (to seek Him) without a sincere desire wouldn't be fruitful. Superior Love Allah ki taufeeq k baghair mumkin nahi aur jissay Allah taufeeq day ussay Pani ka Pyasay k pass jana hi kahain gay na. That's what I had concluded from this quote, rest Allah knows the best.

Ishq-a-lahasil is a term
also used by Bano Qudsia in her famous novel Raja Gidh

this term means aisa ishq jiss ka koi hasil na hooo ya jahan mah**** ka hasool khuwahish na hoo or whatever
it always make me think whats the difference in all three of these
Ishq-a-hasil, Ishq-a-lahasil and Ishq itself

hope so yasir will ellaborate the difference in these three

as olmypia ko quaotations k ilawa kuch kehna atta nahi
app ko already iss term ka he nahi patta
main iss k baray main pouch raha hoon

and koi 5th person iss forum per hay he nahi hum charoon k siwa(lolz)

regards

Ishq-e-Lahasil ki lughat ko agar samajho tu nihayat hi asaan hay yani k woh ishq jo hasil na hua ya jiss ka hasool mumkin nahi. Mujhay dobara ek shair yaad araha hay iss mokay per sahi yaad nahi kis ka hay I think shayad Mir-taki ka hay......I guess, kehtay hain

koi maal se gaya koi taal se gaya
koi jaan se gaya koi jahaan se gaya

lut gayi lut gayi sari country
ishq di galli vich no entry
ishq di galli vich no entry

no no no no no no no no no
no no no entry

Ishq di galli wich No-entery.......kya khoob byan farmaa dia Ishq-e-Lahasil ko.....Khastor say "No" per aap ghor kijiyay kitni shiddat di gai hay.....

Kasim, Ilawa iss k tumnay poocha k "ishq" kya hay. Ishq ki tafseel byan kartay huay kehtay hain.......I think Molana fazlul rehman nay kaha hay I exactly dont know but i guess so, here it goes

Ishq ishq karna hai kar le
Ishq ishq mein jee le mar le
Ishq ishq hai sab se pyaara

Ishq hi to zindagi hai
Ishq hi to har khushi hai
Ishq mein khud ko bhulaake jhoom
Dhoom machaale dhoom machaale dhoom

kisi din fursat k lamhat main "Ishq-e-hasil" per baat karunga.

Regards.

In my view

The simplest definition of Success is,
“When your Boss ask for ur signatures on important legal documents, other then in capacity of wittness.”

As per this cretaria i m a successful person

These are called pre-mature assumptions. Anyways, in the simplest form
Ishq = Sheer love; the case in which the person doesn't see anyone except his beloved.
Ishq-e-Hasil Where the lover gets his beloved.
Ishq-e-Lahasil Where the lover fails to get his beloved.

Again, assumptions! I haven't taken a degree in this field, either...
