all depends upon the candidate, prospective employer, location and ofcourse the position.

starting salary usually ranges Rs.12-18k for an avg candidate, in a medium sized company, in karachi, for a post like Accountant/Accounts Officer/Assistant Manager Finance bla bla bla

I have also come across fresh ACMA's in Lahore starting at PKR 5,000. it was a Govt. corporation restructuring into a Limited company. Like wise some of ACMA friends joined the industry for as much as PKR 15,000-20,000. Incidently in Lahore a lot of ACMA's prefer joining an audit firm for the CA articles (3 years).. accounting firms were found to pay them as much as PKR 5,000 (to start with) which is much better than a CA student got (even after passing all the papers.

The dilemma with ACMA's always been is that members at the helm of affiars have always been members of ICAP... I guess that does undermine their objectivity atleast to the extent when it comes to promote the ACMA qualification.

Today's world is ofcourse where you cannot survive with just one qualification, ie in Pakistan. Even the ALL mighty CAs have started to specialise or diverify by going for CISAs and CIAs ofcourse ACCA is still a favourite.
