Create a Considerate Cubicle Culture

As you begin your accounting career, chances are you will be working in a cubicle. And if you've ever identified with Dilbert's comic complaints or the frustrations expressed in the movie Office Space, both of which take a humorous view of cubicle life, you're not alone. Even though these are extreme depictions, most people have had similar feelings at some point.

The easiest way to create a comfortable cubicle environment is to communicate with your colleagues and demonstrate respect. If a problem arises between you and a coworker, speak to him or her, or your manager to resolve the issue quickly and professionally. Following are a few additional tips to ensure you are a good cubicle neighbor:

Speak softly. Use your “library voice” when speaking on the phone or with colleagues so you don't distract other from their work.
