Government's failure in simplifying sales, income tax resented

HYDERABAD (November 17 2002) : Trading community leaders were critical of the government failure in simplifying the Sales and Income Tax in the country and demanded of the President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry to take up the case with the concerned government authorities.

This was observed by some of the leading traders at a Iftar-Dinner arranged in honour of the newly elected office bearers of HCC&I here on Friday.

They were of the view that the complicate procedure of Income Tax and Sales Tax has adversely affecting the commercial activities. They said that the government had also failed to reduce the provincial and federal taxes despite firm assurances.

The President HCC&I said that the matter has already been discussed in detail with the Member Sales Tax, Central Board of Revenue. He assured that the chamber will take up the matter with the government.
